CNY day 1

I know posting 5 photos of Rafael Nadal might appear a little homoerotic...........But I did spend a fair bit of my time during visitation watching him battle against Fernando Gonzalez and smoking him just like how a world no. 1 should.

And I also did notice that the new tennis wear for the nike line looks really neat. I would like to own the ensemble (minus the yellow headband and wristbands). Hint Hint.....I am turning 27 soon......lol.....

btw
Happy chinese new year!!!!

crashed week

Friday
watched Changeling with the dental folks (dennis, chuck, ws, bran+xx, stan+lulin, ll, rob and jr). Personally I enjoyed the show thoroughly. Thought it could have been better, but it was good. It was a slow paced movie and had a captivating plot based on a true story - The Wineville Chicken Coop Murders. Its about a serial killer who murdered 20+ children back in the 1920s

I went in with a little apprehension cos' I never had a good impression of Angelina Jolie. I pretty much felt that she was the third party of the Brad/Jen relationship...thus a homewrecker and sort of a hypocrite (cos she mentioned in an interview that she would not go for a married man)......Ultimately I placed my feelings aside and watched the movie impartially and found that Jolie did quite a good job portraying the role of a mother driven to confront a corrupted LAPD after her abducted son is returned because she suspects that the boy returned to her is not her son. You could feel for her character, her helplessness, her motherly instincts and her determination to get her son back.

Before the movie, Jolie 0 Aniston 1
After the movie, Jolie 1 Aniston 0

Saturday
Attended my nephew's first month celebration. Having a nephew is still quite a surreal feeling for me. The recent promotion to an uncle again brings me back to my current state of status quo.....27 years old this year....no girlfriend.....not getting married anytime soon and definitely no kids.......My brother did have a 4 years head start over me....so let's just see where would I be come 4 years from now

Everyone was happy and the baby probably oblivious to why are there so many people crowding around him that day....still as cute as a button though

Sunday

Met up with Aileen, fy and chuck for a lunch time dim sum buffet at Jade restaurant in Fullerton hotel. Just to do some catching up with Aileen who is now at a private practice and reminisce the lunch times we had at hpb.

we "lou heied"

Dim sum there is really good and special......lots of shrimp based dim sum....This funny looking pink one is crabmeat shrimp I think....and they have siew mai with abalone and the wanton is the size of a baby's fist.....yum yum

Happy campers.....ate for 2 hours

Girls being girls with a special compartment in the stomach for desserts so they claimed wanted some desserts and we headed down to canele and had some fixings. Quote fy "I am so full, but I want dessert"

It was a fruitful weekend in terms of my activity level....hahaha.....
and I love CNY.....gong xi fa cai!!!!

who needs a tag heuer

when you have a HEUER! Hahaaa....

well.....according to my dad, Tag Heuer was known as Heuer back in his hay days. And while I was just jokingly telling him about my intention of getting a Tag Heuer watch, he actually told me he owns a Heuer watch and I can have it!!! Wooohooo.....

Apparently this is a vintage good and when my dad sent it for repair, the watch owner wanted to buy the watch. My dad being the sentimental him or I would say apprehensive him told him to kiss his behind (naaahh.....he didn't say that).

The watch albeit a little worn and past its prime could not compete to the look of Tag Heuer watches but it still looks good and decent.....and it being vintage justifies its look....lol...
I have realised that my dad has lots of goodies....I am just wondering does he have a mini cooper hiding somewhere

the many faces of Kayden

my little adorable nephew.........I spent the whole morning being the photographer with the new lumix my dad bought. Just to capture his every movement and facial expression. Couldn't really get him to smile.....He seemed really apprehensive when I brandished my camera.....thus explaining why most of his photos consist of a petrified look. But still he is the cutest thing...........Congrats again to bro and Kim......I can see that he is going to grow up a heartthrob.......hahaha

sleepy Kayden in his little I have no idea what it is called

sleepy Kayden in his cot nicely wrapped

"Taking a photo of me?"

"I am shy
....don't take my photos."

Let's hope he is not flipping me the bird in the glove thing he is wearing of which I have no idea what it is called again

NYE @ A971 & Helipad

This would be one of my craziest NYE celebration to date.....given the fact that I normally would just reside at home and do the countdown with Gurmit Singh on tv..

We (Charlie, dennis x2, yh,xl and myself) started with dinner at this Thai restaurant alongside boat quay. Had our fill and decided to find a place to chill out....
Timbre was our first choice given the location....no seats
Helipad was our next choice.....got our free cover before 10pm....but no action
Cafe Iguana was third........no seats
Brewerkz was next in line since it is right beside........no seats
finally we found a place between Cafe Iguana and Brewerkz called A971 Cafe......pretty decent place....and had 1-4-1 drinks....so yaaay.....

First round was some delectable cocktails which has some japanese twist in it
then....we decided to open a bottle of Wolfschmidt Vodka so that we can down it with silly games like pick the smallest card, Indian poker and its derivatives

Charlie loving his vodka

Indian poker and xl is already red after her cocktail

Lots of tongue actions during the night

Picture taken after we did our countdown with 1/8 of the fireworks

Vodka apparently wasn't enough so we ordered a round of cabernet and by that time I was swaggering a little but still conscious......far from drunk...........lol......and xl is progressively getting redder and redder.....she forbids me to post some photos of her and I will just leave it as that....haha..

After our wine and when everybody was a little euphoric, we decided to return to Helipad and party a little bit......I really can't remember much except us dancing, yh slapping a caucasian and some dude introducing himself......other than that everything was a blur.....

One of the rare shots we have as a group in the club

When everything was all over, I was slightly more sober and I could not freaking hail a cab for the life of me.........Clarke quay had people littered all over waiting for cabs........so I decided to walk a little bit further......City hall.....no cabs.......raffles hotel.......no cabs......bras basah......no cabs.......parkview square.....no cabs.......Actually there were cabs...just that all of them were on call....so smart me decided to call for a cab.....and service was unavailable....I had no idea what was going on so I just continued walking and I finally hailed a cab at lavender.......It took me an hour walk to get a cab.....a first definitely....

But nonetheless it was one hell of a NYE to welcome 2009......no more Gurmit Singh for me anymore..

the dawn of a new year

updates since the last entry

my sis in law gave birth to my nephew on the 20th December. I am still not 100% sure what is his name.....last i heard his name is Kayden....think that should be it....lol.....Feels kinda weird to be an uncle.....let alone a parent for my brother and Kim.....But i am sure they are up for it......me being an uncle means my parents are now grandparents and my grandmother is now a great-grandmother.....

proud parents with baby Kayden

Hosted our annual christmas party with my classmates or should I say colleagues now.....4 years of intense bonding in clinics/labs/kopitiam/enclave and we have definitely had forged some friendships and respect for one another. Played Jenga/Twister/PS 3/Texas Hold'em/Mahjong and attempted Wii. My house was turned into a game arcade slash gambling den....and I did win some money from mahjong....my first! sorry Chuck...........
Photos can be found in facebook....esp unglam twister photos

Class of 2007

I also attended my annual line dinner (minus Fadz, Elaine and Meiying).....pardon me for not being chronological.....I am probably now in the middle part of the line given the influx of a pair of juniors every year now....haha.... Feels good to be out of dental school but then again what really lies for me ahead.....To all those still in dental school......work hard!!!

Whose LINE is it anyway?

with the new year comes new colleagues......yours truly will still be at level 5 and will be the only DO staying there.....
Bye bye SunDin, Tammy, Kanglun, WanZhen
Hello AnQi, JiaChing, Jasmine and BoonThye

Oh btw.....I had an awesome NYE celebration....Got wasted and danced the night away at helipad........WooHOO!!!!! (no photos yet)

a random photo just to remind Bobby to step on it with the HK photos......This is the only group photo I have in my camera while we are taking the express train....Ermm.....group as in all 3 of us are in the photo....Bobby's black hair can be seen at the other seat and as I had always said during the trip....I looked as pale as a ghost whenever Ivan was beside me.....point proven...

- yours truly -
