Uncharted: Drake's Fortune

Easily the best ps3 game I have played thus far. With that said, I have to make some justifications as it is only the fourth game I have played......But then again, I will still stand on the fact that it will be one of the best with the influx of new games.

The protagonist this time round is Nathan Drake who believes that he is the descendant of Sir Francis Drake, all time pirate. Therefore he goes for an Indiana Jones-esque escapade to find treasures and more treasures with his good friend Robert Sullivan. Alongside them is Elena Fisher, a TV producer who wants to capture all that in film and gradually became Nathan's love interest. During the course of their treasure hunt, they were caught up with mercenaries who also wanted a fair share if not all of the bounty and there explains the whole concept of the game.

Nathan explores the entire island of El Dorado and this is where it captured me.....the graphics in this game...totally astounding and immaculate. Lush trees, beautiful but dilapidated ruins and majestic waterfalls make up the exploration. Fine details are taken care of surprisingly....e.g. Nathan's shirt will appear wet after coming up ashore for a while, birds will fly off when you get near them and possibly slightest sounds will attract the attention of the mercenaries, grenade detonating near Nathan will cause him to be partially deaf for a while.

Computer AI in this game too bring out the realism in it. Hiding under a cover for too long will allow the enemies to flank Nathan and put a bullet right in his head. They are no longer the typical dumbass twats that you fight in most games. Therefore while playing this game, I felt like I was watching a movie with the exception that I am controlling the main lead.

With all those being said, Uncharted is a pretty short game (lasting probably 10 hrs) and it will probably not attract gamers who are into hardcore intense shooting games. Uncharted goes the unconventional route and inject the movie aspect(romance, comedy, suspense, twists) into gaming which makes it a stand out game for me. Uncharted is a must buy for ps3 gamers!
