legit qualms?

As much as I have several gripes about our educational system, reading an article on sunday times gave me some thoughts....apparently in US there is some commotion about too much homework for students.....a lot of parents have been writing demanding schools to cut down or better not give any homework to the kids......cos some researchers claimed that homework actually causes some negative psychosocial effects(maybe that's why they are more open than Singaporeans) and apparent homework is not statistically significant on say success in school....pretty amazing stuff.....so they came up with guidelines like first graders should have only 10 minutes of homework and second graders 20 minutes etc.......it did brought a little chuckle......basically I feel the whole article just shows why so many countires especially the states are emulating our local textbooks and system but then I am by far at all not saying that our system is flawlwess...no way in hell.....that being said I am back to my homework....
