Day 3 MacPherson Tribe

day 3 of chinese new year is always spent with a super duper big lunch at a fancy restaurant with a bunch of relatives...maybe 50 of them.... This year it was at Fook Yuen or somthing like that....... Funny thing that this year they decided to change the concept by getting all the same generation ppl to sit together......dang it....like always I wanted to fly under the radar and just eat while my parents do the talking....today I had to converse with my fellow second cousins.....actually it was pretty decent though....getting to know them after like 10 years of annual lunch together.....today I actually got their names right.....

after dinner came mugging session again....crap man.....this is really intimidating...though I take occasional breaks here and there......blogging and the superhost show....haha...

happy chinese new year everyone...... Chinese new year is by far my second most favourite public holiday of the year....the festivity...the goodies.....the steamboats......the studying......oops....yeah....studies. Having a test immediately after the holidays....and a subject that I flung in the previous 2 tests.....this one is going to make or break me....

But anyway, no test is going to ruin the festivity of chinese new year......Just had my annual reunion dinner....the norm....steamboat with lotsa seafood..... and after that a little lymphoma and leukemia...and now I am blogging after fibrosarcoma and osteosarcoma...... crap...

I did a little me shopping today...just by myself....I am defintiely more productive shopping alone..... I bought myself an abercrombie polo tee today....and I am satisfied.....at least I bought something this CNY....Haha..

Anyway guys...I just need your prayers for all those who are reading man....haven't been doing well exactly in school and I seriously need a miracle in that...... Please remember me in your prayers k?

Recently there is a oral pathology craze in class......people staying in the library till the wee hours mugging hard....like me.....though I have no idea what rubbish Neville is spouting. Our little professors decided to give us a little early chinese new year present with a test immediately after chinese new year on a thousand page book text.....great.....and also they decided to release the past 2 tests results this week to maybe give us a little motivation to study.......Some of us scored a Final Fantasy (who else but me...as usual...underacheiving little son of a gun....), some decided to have a Final Countdown while some perverse people actually passed the tests with decent grades....

God please grant me the wisdom....I dont mind being perverse at all.... Can I be first in class for once??? Haha....I know some of you are laughing behind your screens already......

I spent the early part of the day shopping for some new year clothes but I just couldn't find myself the sizes I wanted......in the end..... I went off with nothing......no clothes....sob....

Anyway...sermon today was really really good but I have not been able to pay a lot of attention recently in service....mind has always been wandering and been only catching the main key points of the sermon......wondering what's wrong with me though........Had a talk with Cheryl today after service and I really felt myself growing under some circumstances.....I do feel that I am gradually becoming more optimistic and less dramatic which is a good thing and I am also less of a martyr now..... I really wish for us to go and fellowship even more..... sigh.... people are always so busy......even me......Wish me all the best for my exams....prolly would be rushing off after service and such....

brokeback mountain

The new film from Academy Award-nominated director Ang Lee. I would really want to watch this movie not for any other reason(I just know some people will start thinking the other way) but the fact that through the trailers, it seems so genuine and also simply because it was the outright biggest winner in the golden globes. And I am just a sucker for controversial movies. But would the movie reach Singapore in its pure form. That I wouldn't know......but I seriously think it is worth the watch......amd I was so happy for Ang Lee for his best director award.....kick ass ...

damn tiring day.....started the morning with the RDTPS presentation.....was hoping to sail through without any learning issues but darn wasn't the case....hah....Just realised that my nervous word is "somewhat". Haha.... Guess everyone will have his/her nervous line........ I am so exhausted by the day with presentation, clinics and test......just tired.....and my darn laptop went kaput...well the keyboard specifically.....Thanks to Eugene whom aided me in that diagnosis...lol...

silence

A normal sunday like every week....I spent it on my bed, watching my DVDs, reeling how adorable Dakota Fanning is and how Tom Cruise is going to save the day again.

I was taken into a loop when I received a message from Dennis mentioning that his senior Dr Alvin Tan had passed away. I had to think for a few seconds who he was and I was flabbergasted and shocked upon the realisation of his absence.

Dr Alvin Tan was simply Alvin to me during my first year in dental school. I did had several opportunities to talk to him. He was in Campus Crusade and all of that. Though I hardly knew him, he did left an impression.

It is only at this time that I kind of realised that life is simply short. For us Christians, life is simply just a phase in your eternal walk with God. It is only a testing period and this incident had taught me that there are more things in this life more important than school right now.

Life is truly short and it is not the length of your stay but the things you did on this earth that matters......

I have been known for really enjoying flicks with a lot of angst and issues and don't get me wrong, once in a while you need some of your destressing movies to thelp you tide over a period of time.....some resort to really retarded movies while others go for something else....

Here goes my top 10 destressing movies of all time (of course they will get changed once something better comes out of the movie theater)

#10 Lord of The Rings trilogy
this is a movie that will always remain a classic. The movie just brings you into a world of fantasy every single time you watch it.

#9 Road Trip
really retarded and fun to watch when you just need to unwind after a terrible day.

#8 I Know What You Did Last Summer
This movie got me hooked in the 1990s. Jennifer Love Hewitt and Sarah Michelle Gellar are prolly the reasons guys watch it and Freddie Prinze Jr and Ryan Philippe for the girls

#7 Legally Blonde
This movie just cracks me up and Elle Woods is one character..

#6 Spiderman
Who wouldn't love a superhero who seems to be as normal as anyone of us?

#5 Alfie
If there is such a thing as a male version of a chick flick, this has got to be it

#4 Speed
This is one of the most lasting action movie ever. Nobody will get tired of watching Sandra Bullock driving a bus and Keanu Reeves before he was Neo. Great Chemistry.

Life is full of ironies...hell ya

What are the odds of winning a lottery?

What are the odds of getting into dental school?
34 in a few hundred (say 300-400?)

Life is full of ironies...I can attest to that. Life will screw you over and bite you where it hurts. I am more than halfway through my dental school life and sometimes I still wonder is it a sick joke. Would you pay $16K a year to put yourself in misery? Well maybe I am exaggerating. School life is seriously draining the heck out of me......(I am not blogging this just because of my failure today but in general it did spur me on to think what lies ahead of me). I have no love lost for what I am doing...absolutely.....

So some would ask?
What crap faeces are you doing there?
You know what?
I have no frickin idea.
That is why I always feel like this big joke that is being played on me for almost 3 years and I am willing to be played on. What the hell am I doing in this place when I don't even enjoy a slightest in what I'm doing?

You mug like hell, work from dusk till dawn, frickin hierachy, inhaling acrylic vapour every single time. -------> Perfect therapy I must say. I did probably lose like erm 2-4 years of my life with all the unneeded crap.

You know what it seems like I am always doing this.....whining, dissing what state I am in. Crap I need this inlet....so you detractors can go shoo off if you can't stand me dissing.....Boy am I neat or what....

The 23 year old Virgin

Alrighty.....this is my virgin post and it coincides with the release of the cast of the next Survivor.....Well I am a reality TV junkie....and this time round they are dividing the group into 4 teams: the young bucks, the young chicks, the old dudes and the old mommas......haha....its going to be fun to watch....You can see from the pictures that they have different color buffs......not bandanas ...They are 2 entirely different things.......You can cover your face with a buff but not a bandana........

For this blog....it is probably going to be the same as my previous blog but I am just embracing the true identity of myself........The survey I did during behavioural science class told me that I am a definite type A but I am so certain that I am a type B. Ok ....before all you readers start becoming anal about what the hell is a frickin type A...I shall explain...

Type A: gungho, competitive, hates to lose etc
Type B: relax, take it easy, nondescript, nonchalant etc.....

I am so a type B but I do have type A traits. I guess they are more hidden behind this type B facade I am portraying. Still I feel like a slacker....not the slackest among the slackest but slack enough to be in the slack club.

Still I welcome everyone of you to my world, my life - my lackadasical yet hopeful life......
